Its nearly impossible for you to grow ferns from spores. They go through an alternation of generations--one generation reproducing asexually and the next sexually. What you call a fern is the asexual part. Usually this is done in laboratories. That's why in nature each fern produces millions of spores but maybe one or two actually end up as a fern (after the sexual generation).
It's best to split the clump on most ferns to propagate them.

Reply:put a dry peice of paper under the mature fern. when the spores are ready theyl fall off the plant onto the paper. theyre really tiny so you might not be able to see them. dump them them on rich soil in the shade. theyll grow when and if they feel like it
