which one is the easiest to take care of and which one would the fish like better.
What is better for my 55 gallon tank, a willow moss plant or a african water fern.?
You could consider ordering about 4 portions of water fern, or about 7 portions of willow moss - both of them would be loved by your fish as they provides great hideouts.
However, you will need to take note that the moss itself will not looked nice if you place it plainly at the bottom of the tank. You get some driftwood from local store, after which, tie the moss onto the driftwood and you could turn your tank into a magnificent art piece! (believe me, you will soon fall in love this new hobby)
You could refer to this page for more info on how fish co-exist with moss:

Reply:The water fern is a little easier to take of than the moss, but neither is too hard to take care of as they are both pretty hardy plants. The water fern might help provide some cover for the fish, while the willow moss is mostly decoration.
Reply:Actually, the fish will be equally 'happy' with both - and that is what I think would do. Use both.
Both are hardy and you should get good results.
