Have you ever had an indoor fern? What do think of ferns?

My Mom and Grandma always had ferns. They are their favorite plant. I just don't like how they shed leaves all over the place.

Have you ever had an indoor fern? What do think of ferns?
I have 5 varieties as house plants, and I think they're very easy to grow. The problem I see most often with other people's ferns is that they don't give them enough light. They think shady plant, dark corner. Not so!

I have one fern, called a hare's foot fern or blue fern; it's about 5 feet wide. rather cool!
Reply:I love ferns and have grown them in my home for many years. The area I live in is renown for the variety of wild ferns that grow here.

I have transplanted many of these wild ferns to the house and have grown them successfully. The easiest ferns I found to grow indoors are Boston, Maidenhair, Christmas, and Lady.

They grow best if the pot they are planted in is placed inside a larger pot that contains a layer of stones on the bottom. By keeping the stones moist and misting the fern on a daily basis, you will be able to grow a large healthy fern for a long time. Be sure to keep them out of direct sunlight but they will grow in bright light. They do not always have to be in a shaded area.

Good luck and happy fern growing!
