I love house ferns but every time I buy one it isn't long before it gets reduced to about 1/3 it's foilage because leaves dry up and fall off even though I try to be routine about watering. Can anyone share some tips? Do you think I should maybe transplant them to the self-watering African Violet pots? Thanks!
Help with house fern plants.....?
Dont forget it is not just the water level but the humidity that plays a big part. Ferns and tropical plants do not like dry conditions so this includes your air. They will thrive in a more humid environment. Dont go and turn your house into a sauna but purchase a small humidifier if you like. THis will most likely help you in the summer when the air is so hot and dry. Hope this helps! Good luck and good health to you and your ferns!
Reply:i don't know any way but maybe the roots get to abidance ..one thing to make the greener is Ibsen salt and water though
Reply:I had a house fern once %26amp; had the same problem as you do. Someone once told me to make sure not to overwater the ferns %26amp; to weekly, turn the hot water on in the shower, until a alot of hot steam is present, then shut the water off %26amp; set the ferns inside the shower. This will keep the ferns moist. It won't hurt to try.
Reply:I can't raise ferns either. All my other plants are great. I hope someone answers your question.
Reply:Ferns are relatively easy to keep. They like warm, wet and sunny conditions.
Place them in southern windows that get lots of sun!
Water once daily in the morning as the weather warms up, as the summer heat peaks, water once in the morning and once again in early to mid afternoon.
Should have those ferns growing at an amazing pace in no time!
