How do you take care of a Boston Fern hanging outside?

The Boston Fern very green and pretty at the top, but underneath there are lots of dried stems and stuff. Do I cut all the brown away and just leave the pretty good top?

When you water it, water the leaves and stems also. Remove the brown ones and you will have more room for it to grow.
Reply:check to see if it's to root bound,,yes cut all the dead out of it,they like a moist area,so misting it everyday is a good idea an not alot of sun
Reply:keep the plant watered and use water and eptson salt mixture to make the fern a deep green color, (1 cup eptson salt to 1 gallon water) They use this at landscape dealers to get the deep color.
Reply:Try some nutrients first, like Peters 20-20-20 and if that don't work then cut them off. Just a little at first you don't want to throw it into shock, and make sure to foliage feed it also with a spray bottle
