What suggestions can be offered for a hanging "Boston Fern" that I have out front of house?

does it respond well to fertilizer (Miracle-Gro)?

Miracle Gro is a fine all-purpose fertilizer for just about any plant. Fertilize your fern once a week per the instructions on the package. When you bring the fern inside for the winter, cut back to a light fertilizing once a month.

Potted plants require frequent watering in the heat of summer, sometimes even daily if there's a lot of evaporation going on. The best "moisture meter" is your finger. Stick your finger down into the soil and if it's dry, water the plant. If the soil is soggy, let it dry out a bit before watering.

Your Boston fern will appreciate receiving indirect sunlight.

My grandma had a beautiful indoor Boston fern and everyone asked her how she kept it so healthy. Her answer: She watched the weather forecast for Boston and watered it when it rained in Boston. She may have been kidding, because this is the same woman who would serve guests their drinks in a dribble glass.
Reply:yes. feed per box instructions.
Reply:Miracle Gro is God's way of telling us how He made everything. I don't think it hurts any plant.
