Maybe baby ovulation microscope continual fern pattern?

Has anyone ever used the Maybe baby ovulation microscope? I've been using it for several months normally it's pretty accurate. This last cycle since ovulation it has stayed in a fern pattern that is stronger than it has ever been, I thought I may have been pregnant, I had a faint line on a pregnancy test but I got my period yesterday but still the fern pattern is very strong on the Maybe baby microscope. Normally at this time in my cycle I get nothing. Has anyone else ever had similiar things happen? It makes me wonder if I did conceive but have lost it.

Maybe baby ovulation microscope continual fern pattern?
Here is some info that may help you:

Most women ovulate near the middle of their monthly menstrual cycle. The average cycle length for a woman is between 23 to 35 days. It is possible, however, to have a longer or shorter menstrual cycle. Sometimes it is even possible to have ovulation occur twice in one month, or to have a month where no ovulation occurs at all. Most doctors agree that ovulation usually happens 13 to 14 days before starting your period or monthly bleeding.

Each month, as a woman, your saliva goes through changes because of different hormones. One of these hormones is estrogen. Just prior to ovulation, estrogen levels increase and create a distinct pattern in your dried saliva that looks like frost on a window pane. This pattern is called ferning.

When you see these patterns you will know that ovulation is likely to occur in the next 24 to 72 hours. However you are able to see through using this method, your estrogen levels increase daily.

It is important to note that an estrogen surge or ovulation may not occur in all cycles.

Results will typically appear as shown in this image, however please note that the results have been enhanced in black. The unit you choose may also have a different color illumination.

FAQS:

Q: I am trying to get pregnant. When is the best time for intercourse?

To increase your chances of getting pregnant, it is recommended that you have intercourse as soon as you start to see the ferning pattern begin.

Q: Will all women’s ferns look the same?

No, because different women produce estrogen in different amounts, each woman will have her own unique ferning pattern.

Q: How will I know if I am seeing ferns?

For the first several months you use the tester, you may want to test for more than just the fives days around ovulation. That way you will see the different patterns that develop throughout the month and have a clearer understanding of what your ferning patterns look like.

Q: Will I see ferns at other times of the month other than around the time of ovulation?

Some women will, on occasion, see ferns at other times of the month. This is primarily due to a second estrogen surge near the end of your cycle. This is also why you calculate the expected time of ovulation, and look for the ferning patterns then.

Q: Is it all right to use my Saliva Ovulation Predictor Test all month long?

Yes, you may use your tester all month long. Please note the question above and pay particular attention to the patterns that develop around the time of expected ovulation.

Q: Why would it be that I am not seeing any ferns?

There could be several reasons:

First, make sure that you have not eaten, had anything to drink, brushed your teeth or smoked for at least two hours prior to testing.

Second, be sure to swish saliva around in your mouth and gather fresh saliva from the saliva glands under your tongue.

Third, you may have miscalculated the time of ovulation. Make sure you have accurately kept track of the length of your complete menstrual cycle.

Fourth, your body may not be producing enough estrogen. If you think this is the case, please consult your physician.

Q: I am seeing ferns all the time. Why is that?

A small percentage of women produce a high amount of estrogen all month long. One reason could be that you might not be producing enough progesterone. If you think this is true in your case, please consult your doctor or health care provider.

Q: What else could interfere with my test results?

Possible things are: pregnancy, recent pregnancy, have reached menopause, have just stopping taking birth control pills, or taking injections for birth control. This would also be true if you are taking hormone replacement therapy, such as supplemental estrogen.

Q: How long before the fern will disappear off the slides?

If the slides are kept in a dry environment, the slides will keep their ferning patterns for many months.

Q : I am trying to be come pregnant. Should I use any other types of ovulation detection, such as a LH kit?

Although the Saliva Predictors are very accurate, if you are trying to become pregnant, you may use as many kinds of ovulation testing as you would like.
Reply:Hi, I use the maybe baby ovulation microscope and got continual ferning for over a week- I test first thing every morning to make sure food will not corrupt the test- and then my period came too. My Gyno says it could have been a hormonal imbalance that month.

I also use the urine ovulation predictor kits and I sometimes get conflicting results between maybe baby and the OPK!
Reply:I have used the "spit test" (ovuscope)before. I quit using it because I found it not to be very accurate. It will "fern" when you are close to your period %26amp; while you're on your period as well. It is no good. I wasted my money on that thing.

First year of growing asparagus..I have the fern like stalks sticking up when do I cut them down to the ground

What do I need to do to the asparagus bed to prepare it for cold weather?

First year of growing asparagus..I have the fern like stalks sticking up when do I cut them down to the ground
You cut them down when they turn pale yellow colour, and then you should cover the bed in a thick layer of well rotted manure, to be raked off in the spring but most of it will have been taken down by worms.
Reply:I'm in the same boat; planted this Spring. Researching the internet, various state ag departments advise leaving the ferns alone until Spring. At that time, you can trim the ferns before the stalks come up. That's also when they advise to fertilize. They also advise when/how harvest...some light cuttings the 2nd year are felt to be helpful.

I planted tomatoes between my asparagus rows and the tomatoes had huge yields (stalks were like tree trunks)! No pest problems with either vegs.

PS2 sims bustin out.. who stole the fern from goth manor and where do i find where the spores ane coming from?

and how do i launch rockets for the party at shiny things lab?

PS2 sims bustin out.. who stole the fern from goth manor and where do i find where the spores ane coming from?
* Find The Fern That Was Stolen From The Goths *

Quite simple actually. Get to your vehicle and select it. Choose 'visit' and go to Dudley's Trailer. Notice the abandoned, wrecked vehicle at the back area? The fern is there, near the area of that car. Highlight it and choose the 'steal fern' command. After that, get back to the Goths and they'll respond something about the goal. It will then be complete.

Find Out Where The Contaminating Spores Are Coming From

First, you must get Goth Manor unlocked and available for visiting. Now, visit the Goths. There's a few of the giants ferns, similar to the one you stole from Dudley's Trailer. Steal one from them, and you're done.

* Show Off Rocket Gnomes At 'Launch Party' *

Quite simple if you followed my guide/hint. Your Mechanical Skills affect the gnomes you'll be making from the Inventor's Workshop (there's already one in this lab, near the wall beside the door, so you don't have to buy one). So, build up your mechanical skill if you haven't yet to 8 or higher. You'll be making normal gnomes if you don't have the required skill. To build your Mechanical Skills, it's up to you. There's one item that will boost up your skill faster then any other available skill-building items (the Tesla Coil, under Skill Building, but you'll have to complete the job promotion to unlock the item).

Once you have the required level for building the gnomes, then well done. Now, start building five of those (the gnome is yellow/red in color with sunglasses) and go to the Start Menu. Use either the Buy or Build Mode to move the gnomes outside on the sand. Then, all you got to do now is to throw a party. Get a sim to use the phone, and leave your sim outside with the gnomes. Once the box appear telling you that the party has started, highlight one of the gnomes and select it. Next, choose 'launch' and it will fly to the sky. Get every gnome to be launched in the air and you'll complete the goal.

Note: Every time you launch a gnome, you'll get a respond from a sim that he/she is not impressed. This means that you have to finish all five, and not only a few of them. The sims want to see all five being launched in a row, meaning they want to see five of those being launched, so don't get confused. Just do it normally and you'll be fine.

Edit

It seems that Mason guy has edited his answer to copy my answer, hasn't even bothered to link the source either, all my information is straight from a walkthrough on gamefaqs.com which is linked in my sources below.

Reply:FINDING THE FERN:

In order to find the Goth's fern you need to go the goth manor then visit Dudley's house, at the back of the house you will find a broken down car, and next to it will be the fern. Select the fern and select 'Steal Fern' option. Then a window will appear and Dudley will tell he was borrowing the fern. Go back to the goth manor and a window will pop up with Bella telling you how it probably happened.

SPORES:

Once you unlock goth manor for visiting, visit the goth manor and you will see a few ferns, steal one of the ferns and this mission should be done.

GNOME ROCKET:

How can I bring an outdoor fern indoors for the winter without causing it to much distress or loss of foliage?

First, if you're bringing it in you don't want to bring any pests with it. Take it to a "staging area" where there are no other houseplants so you can make sure it's "clean". I would use a houseplant insect killer on it or if you don't want to use poison spray it with neem oil or horticultural oil. If you use the oils spray them well, bottoms and tops of fronds. Let it sit in that "staging area " for a few days and then look it over carefully. Use a magnifying glass and see if you see anything moving. Some pests like spider mites are really small. Once you feel it has no pests bring it into your house.

Since there are different kinds of ferns with different needs put it where it is in conditions as close to where it was outdoors as possible. It won't need quite as much water inside. But if you have a gas furnace and no humidifier you may want to mist the foliage every few days.

How can I bring an outdoor fern indoors for the winter without causing it to much distress or loss of foliage?
Make sure you keep it by a window that has similar sunlight.

How is the life cycle of a fern different from that of a moss?

The dominant form for the moss is the gametophyte. For the fern it is the sporophyte. Both experience both, with an alternation of generations. Both have gametophyte generations that produce gametes from archegonia and antheridia which swim together and form a diploid zygote that develops by mitosos into a mature spore-formin sporophyte. But in the ferns, this is the plant form that you see and think of when you think of a fern, complete with fronds. In the moss, this sporophyte phase is a non-photosynthesizing, parasitic, epiphytic shoot growing out of the plant that you normally think of as the moss.

How is the life cycle of a fern different from that of a moss?
Ferns produce spores and spread through the atmosphere.

Mosses reproduce through root systems and remain quite local.

What are those brown structures on the fern?

Ferns spread by spores so they cover forest floors.

What are those brown structures on the fern?
they're basically called the SPORES of the fern
Reply:sporangia, they contain spores. ferns have spores instead of seeds.
Reply:sori? these are beneath fern leaves

How do I keep a staghorn fern happy and healthy? thanks!!?

Temperature? Amount of light? Amount of watering? Does it like bedtime stories?

How do I keep a staghorn fern happy and healthy? thanks!!?
All of the many species of staghorn ferns require or grow best in a high temperature, 60-70°F or higher. However, the common staghorn fern (Platycerium bifurcatum) will tolerate a temperature of 50°F. and is best adapted for use in the low humidity conditions of the average home.Staghorns grow best in shaded areas and will not endure the Florida sun. The medium upon which they are growing should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings.

I am looking for a plant that has a flower like Dutchman's Breeches does not have the compound or fern leaf.

Looking for a plant that has a flower like Dutchman's or Dutchmen's Breeches but this one has white breeches and a bit of a red flower part coming out from the breeches part. The leave are not fern-like or compound. They are simple oval shaped leaves, thick and the plant is a very strong vine. I lost mine due to the deep freeze we had in California and want to buy some. Does anyone know what these are called and where I can buy them?

I am looking for a plant that has a flower like Dutchman's Breeches does not have the compound or fern leaf.
While your description is better than many on this site, I can't identify your plant based on what you have provided. There are all kinds of plant identification websites that make use of color photos. You might want to search for them by typing "plant identification" or "flower identification" in the Yahoo search box.

The quickest way to identify your flower will probably require a visit to a local plant nursery. They will be familiar with plants that are common in your area. I'm guessing they are busy identifying and selling replacements for all kinds of plants damaged in the California freeze.

Good luck with your gardening.

Is there any type of abundant-like FERN that likes full SUN??

No fern likes sun they come from the forrest. The more shade the better.Keep it in a pot in your house under a light and it will thrive.
Reply:Ivy likes the shade but will keep growing in full sun also.

Spider- plant is very abundant and loves the sun.

What is the major difference between moss and fern life cycle?

The main reason is that in moss' life cycle the gametophyte (that is the visible part of moss) is dominant, and in the fern's life cycle the sporophyte (that is the visible plant of fern) is dominant.

About gametophyte and sporophyte:

I deserve 10 points, don't I? :-)

What is the major difference between moss and fern life cycle?
Their cycles are actually very much the same, so I'm not sure what you are looking for. The actual appearance of the plants is different, such as the spores on ferns are produced in sori under the leaves, while the spores on moss are produced on a stalk that sticks out from the moss. But other than appearance of the structures (gametophyte, sporophyte, archegonium, antheridium, etc), the cycles are basically the same.

Does anyone know how to protect a tree fern over winter, it is planted out in garden,?

Hi there, Tree fern Dicksonia Antartica is generally fully hardy in most areas of the U.K. however, in most winters the lush green fronds will get scorched with the wind and frost.

Even so it is recommended that the crown (the very top of the trunk where the fronds come from) is packed with straw, sometimes a wire cone can be made to cover the straw to stop it blowing away. Under no circumstances use polythene or hessian as the fern will sweat and next years fronds will be damaged.

The aim is to protect "the knuckles" which are next years shoots or fronds which you can feel in the crown of the plant. During the winter if the fronds do get burnt or scorched just remove in spring and new ones will emerge.

You must first identify which type of tree fern you have. If the spine of the leaf is green follow the above instructions, however, if the spine of the leaf is black and the trunk is extremely thin this will probably be a variety called Squarosa which is not hardy in this country and should be protected from frost during the winter.

P.S. Trust me I have imported over 200 tree ferns from Tasmania this year.

Does anyone know how to protect a tree fern over winter, it is planted out in garden,?
wrap it in burlap, and put straw or hay around it.....
Reply:Here is an excellent site all about the care of tree ferns.
Reply:Ferns are fairly hardy it should survive ok. To protect a little more put a peice of hessian cloth over it %26amp; tie it loosely, that will protect it from the frost.

Air fern-needs no water or soil. Does it grow and where does it come from?

The following was copied from the Texes A%26amp;M University website below. I had no idea either. I learned something today. :)

Air Fern

1. Q. What is an air fern and how should it be cultured for maximum growth?

A. I was born in the dark but NOT last night! Don't hold your breath waiting for your "air fern" to grow. You may turn blue in the face. The air fern, which is billed in stores and some garden centers as a plant that needs no water or fertilizer, is actually the skeletal remains of a tiny sea animal called Sertularia, a distant relative of coral. The skeletons look like ferns and have extremely fine foliage. In stores they are also sold as "air plants" and "air moss". The skeletons are collected by ships which dredge for them along coastal areas in the estuaries of streams and rivers. They are then treated with chemicals and dyed green. If you have an air fern, don't water or fertilize it -- this exercise will be similar to trying to feed a corpse. And even worse, the water removes the dye and bleaches the stems. Also, if the air fern has been shipped or stored for any length of time, it is likely to have a rather strong odor, not entirely pleasant. It's best to let the fern air out before putting it in a closed room.

For more information about airfern, see the Fruits of the Sea Web site.

Air fern-needs no water or soil. Does it grow and where does it come from?
Yes you need to spay them with water using a spray bottle not much.other wise they'll wilt %26amp; die honest I thought the same thing
Reply:yes they do grow and they come from areas around the North Sea

The leaves on my fern u slowly turning yellow and dying?.....?

what can i do to stop that?what am i do wrong that is causing that?

The leaves on my fern u slowly turning yellow and dying?.....?
Too much water or not enough water. Not enough fertilizer or bad soil. Could have it too close to a heat source or in direct sun light. Most like lots of indirect light. So too much water the leaves just turn yellow and fall off. Too little water, the leaves turn yellow then brown. Put it closer to a window and keep them away from heat ducts. Try misting your fern daily with just a bit of fertilizer in it. They really like sorta cool, kinda moist, rich soil. You see them in the wild shaded by trees, along streams, in grottoes. Give them that environment or make them think they're in it and they will do well.
Reply:Not enough moisture. Ferns must have lots of water, in the soil, on the plant, and in the air. Keep the soil moist, don't drown plant, and mist daily. A good idea is a couple times a week, place fern in shower under cool, slow running water. Let stay couple minutes. Make sure pot drains well. Don't place in a hot window either. They love filtered light. Another idea, put outside when it rains. Hope this helps your fern.

(couldn't find one of just 15, sorry!)

One day, Grandfather sends for Billy. He tells him that he has entered Old Dan and Little Ann in a coon-hunting championship. He has been careful to record how many skins Billy has brought in--enough to qualify. And he has paid the entry fee. Billy, his Papa, and grandfather take a buggy to the contest. The campsite is filled with tents, each containing adult coon hunters with expensive gear and beautiful hounds. Somehow, Little Ann wins the beauty contest on the first day. The other coon hunters are very kind to Billy, and his grandfather goes from tent to tent, bragging about the hounds.

The runoff hunt begins. The two men and Billy go out with a judge and the hounds. The hounds work fast. The judge is impressed by how closely they work together. Billy's father tells about how Old Dan won't eat unless he's sure Little Ann will get a share too. They have to catch three coons to qualify for the finals. As the sun is about to come up, the two men and the judge grow discouraged, but Billy is hopeful. Suddenly, he hears the dogs bark "treed." It has taken great skill on the part of Little Ann, tracking a coon on the wind as it leaped from tree to tree, but she has treed a coon.

The night of the championship comes. Billy chooses a good starting point for his hounds, and they quickly catch their first coon of the night. Then, as they chase another, a blizzard comes. The men have all decided to come back, when suddenly they hear the sound of the dogs. When they arrive at the tree, they see that Billy's grandfather is missing. They go back and find him, unconscious and with a twisted ankle. Once he revives, he tells Billy to chop down the tree and get the coon. Three coons come out. The dogs kill two of them, but the third escapes. It is freezing cold. Billy idly gestures in the direction of the third coon, and to his dismay the hounds bound after it. He hopes they are all right. When they are found, the dogs are covered with ice. They have treed a fourth coon, and won the championship. Everyone at the tournament cheers. Billy has won a jackpot of 300 dollars. When he and his father return home, his mama and sisters are overjoyed to see him. He has promised to give the gold cup to his youngest sister, and he gives the silver cup from the beauty contest to the older two.

What is the diet, something special, locomotion, and adaptations of tasmanian fern tree or Dicksonia antarctica

on the adaptations, what do tasmanian ferns adapt in their environment? plz answer my question i need it on Dec. 8 2007 so plzzzzzz answer my question. thankyou so much in advance

What is the diet, something special, locomotion, and adaptations of tasmanian fern tree or Dicksonia antarctica
For Dicksonia antarctica try this:

http://www.anbg.gov.au/gnp/interns-2003/...

also:

http://www.angelfire.com/bc/eucalyptus/t...

Ferns don't have a "diet". They like water, nitrogen, phosphates, and potassium like all plants. They don't move around, so there is no locomotion.

Something special: These ferns are edible. The center of the stem can be eaten raw or cooked. It is very starchy.

Adaptations:

These ferns have been around since the Jurassic. They are adapted to moist, partially shaded, cool environments. They can survive some fires, and will tolerate drought, as well as a wide variety of soil types.

sparknotes, dear.

look around there

In where the red fern grows how are the female characters important to the novel?
it is a sexist novel. the males go hunting and adventuring, and the females support the males and worry about them.

the mom and the sisters worry about billy when he leaves home to find his dogs.

the mother worries about billy when he goes coon hunting and thinks he's got hurt

all of the adventures that happen, happen to the males. grandpa, billy, and the dad go to the competition. the mother stays home, gets pregnant.

the males are the most intersting characters, with the exception of little ann

basically the female charactors reflect the qualities that females were supposed to posses back then- be supportive and worry a lot about what happens to your family

How to take care of a fern does?

i have just bought one and i need to know does a fern need light or can i keep it in the house and need to know about watering and other things to please thank you

How to take care of a fern does?
All ferns like defused light. putting it under a patio is an excellent place for one. But if you don't have that option, next to a window is fine. They like a lot of humidity,so setting it on a bowl of river rock with water in it is an ideal way to raise the humidity. Keep it moist, but not soggy. They don't like wet feet.Fertilise it regularly in the growing season with an organic based fertiliser such as bone meal or fish emulsion. Add peat moss to the ferns base and keep them free from dead leaves during the growing season. In winter, I would leave the dead leaves on it to protect it from the cold.We have three on the Patio, and have to water them frequently being in California. They are so big, kids could make a fort under the long fronds and no one would be able to see them. Maybe it's time to split them, but the last time we did, (I sent them out for that)when they came back,Oh MY GOD! Never again! Bye
Reply:I have a few ferns and I try not to fuss too much with them, if I do they don't do as well, If it is really hot, I water them more. In the summer they hang on the porch and in the winter in the window inside. but I do mist the fronds every other day with a spray bottle and water at least twice a week when outside and once when in the house. If you get brown, just snap them off. and you can use Epsom salt water if it starts to dye to help it. I never fertilize or anything. Guess I just have a green thumb. Good Luck.

What are the chromosome numbers in a typical cell for potato and fern PLEASE HELP?
The record for maximum number of chromosomes is found in found in the fern family. Polyploidy is a common conduction in plants, but seemingly taken to its limits in the Ophioglossum reticulatum. This fern has roughly 630 pairs of chromosomes or 1260 chromosomes per cell. The fact that these cells can accurately segregate these enormous numbers of chromosomes during mitosis is truly remarkable.

How can i safely kill wild fern that is growing in my palm without harming the palm can you use a weed killer?

the fern is turning brownish and makes the trunk of the palm look terrible i was going to use roundup, but wasn't sure if i should do that i don't want to kill the tree

How can i safely kill wild fern that is growing in my palm without harming the palm can you use a weed killer?
if this fern is in your tree, then you need to cut the fern at the root and "paint" or spray it with round up or brush-b-gone, do not spray it on your tree you must remove the fern by hand from the tree,, once you severe the trunk of the fern, give it a week to die off and you can easily pull it out
Reply:pull it out by hand

this book is so good. Do you guys know what it is about?

Has anyone red Where the Red Fern Grows?
good book, two good movies came from the book, i liked the original movie better. These redbones in the first movie came from sierra hills redbones if I am not mistaken( please don't quote me on that as i am not certain). Redbones are a very instinctive hunting hound but can also make great pets, they have the drive to please the owner and oh what a sweet voice they have along with a very pretty look. A great book. Ole Dan and lil Ann and Billy out in the Ozarks.
Reply:yea red the book watched the movie it's really good it's about this boy who saves money %26amp; buys 2 huntin dogs %26amp; then trains them 2 hunt coons then they become the best dogs around %26amp; there's more but i don't want 2 giv away the ending
Reply:Yes, I have read it and love it, though caution, there are spoilers, I cant believe the grandpa dies!!!!!! Love the dogs though, both coonhounds.
Reply:just go to sparknotes.com
Reply:Yes, I read it in the 5th grade, and it made me cry. It's about a boy and his dogs.

Reply:its a classic. it is about a boy who wants some hunting dogs. he saves up the money and eventually gets the dogs. it is about the hunts they have together. but i am not telling the ending
Reply:Yeah I've read it about 5 years ago. Great book very emotional. About the farmboy who saves up for hunting dogs for 2 years then finally gets them and becomes the best hunting team in the area But at the end the dogs die i almost cried then. ( I am a guy)

It was sad, but...If I remember correctly, it was about how strong love is, and the only time a red fern grows is when two people/animals love each-other to death. (Literaly there...)
Reply:You spelled read wrong, and no I haven't, I heard it was good, though.
Reply:that is the story about those 2 dogs correct... if so all i remember is the male dog spilling the innards of i think the wolf or fox. It was a good book.

Should fern fronds be pruned back in the spring?

and if they are, will it kill the plant?

Should fern fronds be pruned back in the spring?
Where do you live? Indoor or outdoor ferns? Are the fronds currently green or not?

Without this info, all I can tell you is that cutting back green fronds doesn't make sense and is hard on the plant. Why would you want to cut back green ones unless they are ratty looking? If that is the case, then removing some might be ok, but do so sparingly. The fern will probably recover regardless of how many of the leaves you remove, but it will be weaker and slower growing. If the fronds are brown, no harm is done.
Reply:Nope.
Reply:No...you can take a few if they are ostrich ferns...they are yummy kind of like asparagus. But be sure you know you have the correct species so you dont get sick. Of course i am refering to the new years green fiddle heads and not last seasons brown fronds the brown ones can be cut out and discarded if you wish.
Reply:What a hypocrite! 'Beautiful dimples' just insulted me on one of my questions! I think pruning her would be a great idea!

What am I doing wrong to my Boston Fern???

My boston fern seems like it's drying out big time! What can I do to save his life?? I spray him with mist each day, I even have my cold mist humidifier going today. His limbs just seem to be drying and dying more each day! HELP!!!

What am I doing wrong to my Boston Fern???
It is probably root bound put in bigger pot with some new potting soil
Reply:boston ferns LOVE moisture....usually best places for these are hanging in your bathroom...cause they get constant moisture.
Reply:Assuming it is not so overwatered it developed root rot, remember that ferns don't like direct sunlight. Look for a shady spot, or receiving very indirect sunlight. Also, it loves humus and peat! Try to mimic, as much as possible, its environment out in the forest.

If it is not getting any better now, just cut off all dead branches, and plant the root ball under a bunch of leaves or pine needles, and let it be. It will come back next year.

From the story "Where The Red Fern Grows" does Little Ann and Old Dan both die?

I want to know because we are reading the book in school. Plus my friend told me that Old Dan and Little Ann die. I have read the book I just want to see what you say.

From the story "Where The Red Fern Grows" does Little Ann and Old Dan both die?
No, you haven't read the book. If you actually read the book YOU would know and not have to rely on friends and Yahoo answers for the answer. You HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK!
Reply:If you've read the book, you don't really need to 'see' what anyone has to say about it.

The ending is realistic, it's sad, and at the same time, very magical.

A classic book in every way.

Deleted former stuff = spoiler.
Reply:Yes they both die. Old Dan dies from a gash across his stomach, and other injuries. Little Ann loses her will to live and dies next to Old Dan's grave. Wow that's really depressing... :-\

Australian sword fern tips?

i always thot that the fern ive been struggling with was a boston fern, but it isnt. its an australian sword fern. any one have any tips on growing this type of fern full and lively? i would like it to be what i call "a hanging bush" but im stressing b/c winter is soon coming and i will have to bring it inddors. i realize that plants go into sort of a hybernation period in the winter but i dont have alot of room nor do i have a large bathroom to hang it in for the moisture. i do however own a few little humidifiers (like for a baby's room). if i put it in the basement should i still water it and how often? please help b/c it has been doing rather well outside and i fear it will die off too much indoors.

specific web sites would help too b/c ive looked all over and frankly im confused w/what steps to take.

Australian sword fern tips?
Boston Fern is more floppy looking - better for hanging baskets. Your fern has a 'crisper' look which many prefer. You treat them both the same. Ferns are some of the easiest maintenance plants around. You can just plant it in the ground or insulate the pot to protect the roots during a freeze. Freezing back is normal and in Spring you just cut it all the way back to about 2" height. It will come back stronger and bigger. Don't need a lot of water but when you do, apply water soluble fertilizer (20-10-20) every 4th-5th time. Keeps it deep green and healthy.

I had many cats , some that lived to be over 20---a fern will not kill your cat---you need to let it outside and stay with it and let it eat some grass!!
Reply:Hard to say. They are not poisonous to people. The greens known as "fiddleheads" are actually the growing tips of fern fronds.

Can you revive a fern plant that got frost bitten?

Its not dead just turned dark green

Can you revive a fern plant that got frost bitten?
About saving your fern. Depends on how much damage has been done. The brown will not turn green again. It is dead. If the roots are still healthy, they may sprout new growth.
Reply:Wait a week or so to see what the fronds do. If the fern's leaves turn brown or green-crisp, then trim them back to the healthy ends.

Give it a little water, but not much, then keep it in a sunny warm place for the plant to recover.
Reply:put in the garage for winter-it will come back in the spring

season is over
Reply:OK are you ready for this one lol.A person I use to know years back had the nicest plants ever and this is how it all started.

He found a wilted plant and thought what the hang he took his roommates birth control pills and mixed it up in water and fed it to the plant. He has never had any problems and he has the greatest plant and flowers around.

At first tho his Doctor thought he had flipped asking for birth controls till he explain the situation to his Doc lol now his doc has great plants growing supposedly.
Reply:Place the plant in a protected space and wait until; spring to trim the frost bitten fronds. When the weather warms, trim the frost bitten fronds and healthy new growth will apear.
Reply:Just let it die off then in the spring cut back all the dead leaves, you should see the new growth beneath.

Tree ferns that I have bought came from Australia and Tasmania have started to grow other plants from their trunks - ferns, herbacious and shrubby. Any ideas what these may be?

What are the plants that grow on tree fern trunks? (Dicksonia antarctica)?
some epiphytic plants grow on the trunks of tropical evergreen forests .The epiphytic plants have their roots hanging in the air for absorption of water, as they do not have contact with direct soil.Thesee plants are not parasites. may be the plant u have has its guest plants seeds, or little root system on it SO it is allowing its growth

Why is my Boston Fern dying?

I have or should I say had a beautiful boston fern, and well now it is dying. It has plenty of water, light, I just don't know what to do, all the leaves are crunchy, well not all of them but a lot and I really don't want it to die, what should I do?

Why is my Boston Fern dying?
Check for mites, avoid placing in area like by a vent or door. Check to be sure it's not root bound it might need repotting.

If you repot water with a B-1 shock preventative

Reply:ferns grow in the woods right...so take it down water it real good pull off all the old leaves spray it with soapy water the leaves then set it in a saucer or something to catch water then hang it in the shade keep it there spray the leaves everyday with water...the soap will kill any spiders and bugs..
Reply:try misting it, that should help.
Reply:It may also require a light fertilizer -- try some Peters it is great.
Reply:Boston ferns do not need a lot of water.Your best bet would be to remove it from pot,and re-plant it.Then get an atomiser and occasionally mist the leaves.Never water on soil round plant. Also bostons like it shady.Remove all the dead stuff, put it somewhere cool, shady, and away from draughts.

My tasmanian fern's leaves are burning due to too much sun. How do I revive it?

Trim damaged leaves off. Aerate (poke holes in the soil) water with light fertilizer mix (miracle gro, 1/4 tsp per gal water.) Move to a less sunny location, you figured that one out, right? Ferns are pretty forgiving. good luck

leave it in a shady or dark space for about a week, checking on it everyday (it may take sooner), this should revive your plant..

Questions from the book Where the Red Fern Grows?

In chapter nine....

Why was Billy crying?

What does Grandpa think about such young boys chopping down such large trees?

What fad was started back in the New England states?

What happens when Billy is wrapping his hands to make a final attack on the tree?

What is it that Billy is wrapping his hands to make a final attack on the tree?

What is it that Billy is firmly convinced of at the conclusion of the chapter?

Questions from the book Where the Red Fern Grows?
Well, it's been about a year since I taught this book to my seventh graders, and I don't have the book in front of me, so I'll give your quiz a shot from memory.

1. Billy is crying because he is unable to keep his promise to Old Dan and Little Anne. His hands ache too much from chopping. Unable to chop the tree down, he won't be able to catch the coon.

2. Grandpa thinks that every boy should chop down one big tree like that to build character.

3. Wearing coonskin caps was the fad that started back in the New England states.

4. The wind blows as Billy is wrapping his hands to make a final attack on the tree.

5. (don't remember) Torn shred of shirt?

6. Billy is convinced that God knocked down the tree for him.

Who thinks Fern Britton from "This Morning" is wrong to have lied about her surgery?

I think saying that you've lost your weight through diet and fitness only- then later admitting to having had the gastric band fitted is quite bad - she should have told the truth from the begining - everyone on tv is a role model wether they like it or not.

Who thinks Fern Britton from "This Morning" is wrong to have lied about her surgery?
I think she is wrong to have said a whole different story!
Reply:I will say lieing is wrong, because that brings a bad name to those people who actual work hard and eat rights title. But she isn't wrong. How embarrising is it to go on tv and tell people you got gastric. Its better to promote naturally loosing the weight anyway, she may of been wrong, but it was for a greater good.

Everyone on t.v. isn't a role model, and they do actually get to choose. Its not their job to adjust themselves to be good for us, its our job to be smart enough to know better than to copy whats on a screen.

She may have lied but it isn't a conspiracy.
Reply:I don't think she was necessarily wrong to have had the surgery but I was disappointed that she lied. She's spent years claiming to be happy with her weight, then she's been telling everyone that it was just increased exercise (cycling) and a change to her diet which caused her recent weight loss. She is someone that many women look up to and respect and it was dishonest of her to lie to such a loyal fan base.
Reply:I guess she has her own reasons for not admitting the truth...... I mean look how many women lie about things such as their natural hair colour (''of course I dont dye my hair'') lol or that they dont use fake tan or they have not had their teeth whitened things like that, so maybe it isn't the easiest thing to admit..... I think if you are a role model it isn't really fair to be so misleading but maybe she thought she would inspire people to get healthier and loose weight
Reply:She has every right as a human being to keep parts of her life private.

Yes she is in the spotlight and is a rolemodel to some people...but everyone that looks up to her should also use their own common sense.

She obviously at the time felt that it was right for her not to let on about her surgery.

I actually think she should have kept lying.

Would you tell people that you had a gastric band fitted.....I know I wouldn't.
Reply:The fact that she hid this absolutely outstandingly important piece of news from us all is.............quite underwhelming ! ! !

SO WHAT if she did - it's HER business and HERS alone - and good luck to her for doing it too. Pity some of the fat lumps you see pushing prams around the likes of Aldi and Asda don't look after themselves a bit more like that albeit they can't afford the surgical bit - but they CAN keep their food intake down a bit to lose weight ! ! !
Reply:Not sure about this.....I suppose it would encourage people if they thought she had lost weight on a diet, and she has got the Ryvita adverts to consider,,,,would not look good for the advertisement would it, if they said the loss was due to surgery....I am sure she is not the only one to lie in such circumstances....but I bet that's the last we see of her on This Morning.
Reply:everyone is human hun. everyone can be economical with the truth at times. maybe being a tv personality she wanted to keep a little bit of her life away from the scrutinising media and public.after all there is too much pressure about size/weight these days.
Reply:Why does it matter? Let her get on with her life. I don't see why, just because someone is on tv, they have every inch of their life snooped into by some low life, then splattered all over the papers like it's life changing news. No I don't think she was wrong, just let it be!
Reply:I think its up to her wo she tells and why. If i had something like that done, i would only tell people who were close to me, i wouldnt want the whole of the uk knowing, she probably felt the same
Reply:She didn't really lie, she just never admitted that she had the surgery. She may well have adopted a healthy lifestyle when she had it.
Reply:Just dont buy her fitness DVD. A few celebs have had this type of surgery and then had the nerve to promote exercise and fitness DVDs.
Reply:weight is a very personal thing to a woman and im sure she was embarred about it and thats probably why she didnt say anything rather than being deceitful.
Reply:It is her own business and it is up to her whether she wants everyone to know or not.
Reply:Did you ever think she was really embaressed about it? She didnt want every one to know...any way the most important thing is that she came clean in the end.
Reply:And you have NEVER lied about anything !!!!
Reply:I think its her business, no one elses. Why do people like you even care its not like it directly effecting you is it??

How do i start cuttings from autum fern spores?

Its nearly impossible for you to grow ferns from spores. They go through an alternation of generations--one generation reproducing asexually and the next sexually. What you call a fern is the asexual part. Usually this is done in laboratories. That's why in nature each fern produces millions of spores but maybe one or two actually end up as a fern (after the sexual generation).

It's best to split the clump on most ferns to propagate them.

sorry dont know
Reply:One branch at a time !
Reply:put a dry peice of paper under the mature fern. when the spores are ready theyl fall off the plant onto the paper. theyre really tiny so you might not be able to see them. dump them them on rich soil in the shade. theyll grow when and if they feel like it

I have a fern here in Arkansas. It is dying. Is it possible to revive it and how?

I have watered it every day. It is in shade for about half the day. It has been hot and the humidity has been bad. Dont want to start buying more ferns until I can solve this problem. Thanks...

I have a fern here in Arkansas. It is dying. Is it possible to revive it and how?
if it gets the afternoon sun it is to much. morning sun is fine, but ferns do not do well in the really hot afternoon sun.

there is a slight chance you have over watered - though it is slight. pick the pot up. if it feels heavy then the plant doesn't need water. if it feels light, then it does. if after you water it still feels light then the water is running through. you Will need to saok the pot in water for a few hrs.

hope this helps.
Reply:Ferns like shade. I think that this one is getting too much sun. Move it and don't worry about over watering.

they love the shower area, and filtered light like the bathroom window

mist daily and keep watered but not soaked

add a plant spike feeder for food
Reply:Just sit it in a corner and water it once a week, let it get sunlight from the window,

trim it up if it gets too shaggy or brown leaves

Advice for a dying fern?

I have a fern that hangs over the kitchen sink. It receives strong light from the west. I understand that ferns like lots of water and do water it everyother day. But, it seems to be dying and browning.

What can I do to help it?

Advice for a dying fern?
Ferns don't like allot of water, they like a lot of humidity. And you need to feed them. Yours might also be root-bound and in need of a new pot. And, I think West windows are too hot for them. They like East facing sun. Ours does anyways. Try transplanting it into a bigger pot. If you are afraid to do it your self, just keep thinking, that no matter what you do, it can only help it because it's dying now. If you just can't transplant it, a local nursery will do it for you. Even if they don't normally do it, someone working there will do it for you. And in the right planting medium. You just need to buy what they use, and pay a little extra for their troubles. My Ferns were 5 ft. across, and maybe 7ft long, and needed to be split. I had never done this before and didn't want to attempt it, so a local nursery employee did it for me on his time off. I just had to buy the stuff he used. Now I have 4 ferns that are 5'x 8' long! Oh course that was a few years ago. I hope I helped you. Byeee
Reply:if it's alraedy brown, it's probably too late anyway.

Make sure you don't drown the roots next time and spay water on it every day.

it needs northerlight and neer a window is probably too cold
Reply:too hot in the kitchen

too much sun

movr it to a window with indirect sun light a bathroom is good
Reply:Stop watering it. what kind of fern is it?
Reply:You are probably watering it too much unless you live in a very dry place. Let it dry out or replace the current soil with a good potting soil. Water it once, then test the soil to see if it moist and then water it only when the soil is getting dry. What many ferns like the most is to be misted and there are some ferns that appreciate being allowed to have dry soil for a day or two. Ask the grower or read the tag for your fern to see what the suggested care for that particular one is. That's your amateur indoor houseplant grower talking, if you wait a couple of minutes many of the gardeners out there will give you great answers. Beer is good for ferns as well, at least mine stay really green when I remember to give them flat beer about once a week.
Reply:Too much water is not good for fern. High humidity is a good thing. I have a fern in my bathroom and it gets indirect sunlight, but it's doing good there. I water, perhaps, once a week. Afternooon sun from the west is too strong, I think. Perhaps, too much sun, too.
Reply:With the changing seasons and the dryer air, it may not be getting enough humidity. Try misting it daily, and only soak the potting soil when it has started to dry, maybe once every 5 days or so.. Your right ferns do like a lot of water.

How do I stuff the crown of my Dicksonia Fern, to protect from the frost.?

Unless you live in London, Cornwall or any of the other few hot spots around the country, your Dicksonia is not going to be fully hardy. Overnight frosts are unlikely to kill them - even as low as -10C - but sustained frozen spells are disastrous. According to Martin Rickard, who has forgotten more about ferns than I will ever know, the best way to counter the risk of frost is to stuff the centre of the plant with straw so that this is about 6in above the level of the trunk. This stops a funnel of ice forming in the crown. The stem can then be wrapped with bubble wrap, hessian, straw, polystyrene, or whatever insulating material you have. It will look odd but needs must and it will only be during cold spells.

How do I stuff the crown of my Dicksonia Fern, to protect from the frost.?
you can use straw to cover the crown of the fern or even dry autumn leaves off other trees
Reply:you put hay or straw in the middle then pull the frons up and carefully tie twine around to keep it altogether we have already had so bad frost you maybe to late.

Is it ok to leave my boston fern outside? What is the lowest temperature it can stand.?

Yes it is. The Boston Fern may appear dead in the winter, but it will re-grow in the spring.

I leave mine outside in the fall until the temps are easily down to 40 with no ill effects at all, and I do have a couple of huge specimens.

What kind of fern was this?

Years ago, my step-dad worked at a nursery. He brought home a plant he called a "sensitive fern". I loved this plant. If you ran your fingers under the leaves, they would fold up. At night, all the leaves would fold up.

When I looked up sensitive fern, it didn't sound like the same plant. What kind of fern is this?

Hi, there. Take a look at this link. You can barely see the leaf structure but I think this is what you're looking for.

My fern dried out - how to nurse it back to life?

My housemate forgot to water the the poor thing for 2 weeks. It is in shade. I give it planty of water now, but the leaves are still dry and looking sad. Any good ideas how to save it?

My fern dried out - how to nurse it back to life?
Just keep it well watered, hopefully it will come back. Sometimes they will, it is possible it's just dormant and will come back. Make sure that it's just moist not soaking wet and let it go as it is. It can take a long time for a fern to come back, you've lost the leaves so you might want to clip them off. It will grow from the base if it grows at all, sending up new fronds to replace the crispy ones.

Good luck

How do I care for a stag horn fern? It was given to me by a friend in Florida.I live in KY & keep it inside.?

In Kentucky you will have to bring it in. It's a tropical plant and cannot withstand multiple days and nights of freezing.without protection.

Having said that, even though we get freezes here in Fl., we can't always bring them in because they've gotten way too big.

If you've got adequate warning of hard freeze, let it get dry, don't water it. If they're dry, you can wrap it with a comforter, closing the bottom. (presumably it's hanging or mounted on the side of a tree) Water inside the base mass will freeze and damage tender parts.

Mine hung on a branch 6-7 ft off the ground and survived several freezes, hurricanes finally took it out, tho.

If you elect to keep it inside, you will have to keep it moist, a spray bottle will do. Plan for drips when it's watered. If you have a garage that stays above freezing, that's a good place to winter it and wrapping shouldn't be necessary.

When you can put it back outside, snip a banana peel into small pieces and put them in the'crown' of the fern and water it. Staghorns love potassium and the banana peel is a natural, slow release source. Good luck.

How do I care for a stag horn fern? It was given to me by a friend in Florida.I live in KY %26amp; keep it inside.?
I move my staghead out in the summer but bring it in in the fall until the next spring. Treat them like any other fern. Here's an article I wrote on the ferns Denise

http://thegardenersrake.com/indoor-plant...
Reply:keep it in a moist, and bright light area like the bathroom or near the kitchen sink , mist it to keep it happy
Reply:Staghorn ferns are easy to grow either in or outdoors. They do not require soil, just use saturated sphagnum moss and attach the fern with wire and it will eventually send out little fronds until it is firmly attached to its host, either a nice piece of bark or even in a hanging basket. They like indirect light or semi shade really and water them about twice a week, thats all. It would be better not to leave them outside when it is really cold until they are extremely well rooted.
Reply:keep it moist and plenty of light

How can I keep birds out of my fern?

Get a plastic statue of an owl, most birds are afraid of owls because they will get eaten by them, you should be able to find one at a garden center.

How can I keep birds out of my fern?
Why can't you enjoy the bird and the fern. We are ALL CONNECTED. They are eating little bugs that want to invade your plant. Or build their nests. What do you have against the birds. It is always something.

I have a Java fern and was wondering?

I own two java ferns and they seem to be growing roots and leaves off of the regular leaves, can you tell me if the new roots and leaves will fall off on their own or do I have to pick them off and replant them into the gravel in my tank.

I have a Java fern and was wondering?
Just bend the leaf over and put a piece or two of gravel on it. The new little plants will detach themselves in a few days to a week. Or if you like you can cut off the leaf and cut each little new plant away from the leaf. It's better to allow them to detach by themselves, but this can work too.

MM
Reply:The new growth is a daughter plant. It will grow attached to the leaves of the mother plant until it is ready to be rooted itself at which point it will release and drift off. If you wish, you can replant the daughter plant, but I would wait until it releases itself.
Reply:well.. i have a java fern and i hand the same problem. and now one new what to do. so i tried both and you can do both because they both work.they will fall off on there own. but you also can pull them off and replant them.
