I have a Java fern and was wondering?

I own two java ferns and they seem to be growing roots and leaves off of the regular leaves, can you tell me if the new roots and leaves will fall off on their own or do I have to pick them off and replant them into the gravel in my tank.

Just bend the leaf over and put a piece or two of gravel on it. The new little plants will detach themselves in a few days to a week. Or if you like you can cut off the leaf and cut each little new plant away from the leaf. It's better to allow them to detach by themselves, but this can work too.

Reply:The new growth is a daughter plant. It will grow attached to the leaves of the mother plant until it is ready to be rooted itself at which point it will release and drift off. If you wish, you can replant the daughter plant, but I would wait until it releases itself.
Reply:well.. i have a java fern and i hand the same problem. and now one new what to do. so i tried both and you can do both because they both work.they will fall off on there own. but you also can pull them off and replant them.
