look around there

In where the red fern grows how are the female characters important to the novel?
it is a sexist novel. the males go hunting and adventuring, and the females support the males and worry about them.

the mom and the sisters worry about billy when he leaves home to find his dogs.

the mother worries about billy when he goes coon hunting and thinks he's got hurt

all of the adventures that happen, happen to the males. grandpa, billy, and the dad go to the competition. the mother stays home, gets pregnant.

the males are the most intersting characters, with the exception of little ann

basically the female charactors reflect the qualities that females were supposed to posses back then- be supportive and worry a lot about what happens to your family
