Do you know any books like the "Where the Red Fern Grows???"?

I love all books with animals in it thaplay a key role. I don't like when they can talk though. I know about Old Yeller and the Incredible Journey so hit me up with more possible book ideas!

Shiloh. I read this around the same time as where the red fern grows. Same kinda thing about a dok and such. It's a good one.
Reply:A Dog Called Kitty by Bill Wallace. Actually, he has written a lot of animal books that you might like. Some of them are about 3rd grade level, I think, but some are more junior high-ish and they're good books.

Kavik the Wolf Dog by Walt Morey.

Pretty much anything by Gary Paulson.

There's some off the top of my head. You can go to amazon.com to find summaries and such.
Reply:"Stone Fox" by John Gardiner

"The Cat Who Went to Heaven" by Elizabeth Coatsworth

"The Yearling" by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings

Get out your tissues though, why do dogs always seem to die in books...?
